Dr André Ulmann, MD, PhD, is a renowned serial entrepreneur in the pharmaceutical industry. Founder and President of CEMAG Care, he is also an experienced business angel, supporting DETERA Therapeutics as an investor and consultant in drug discovery, regulatory affairs, and clinical development.

Originally trained as a nephrologist at Hôpital Necker, he has over 30 years of leadership experience in the pharmaceutical sector. As Head of R&D at Roussel Uclaf (later Aventis), he played a key role in the development of RU 486. In 1996, he founded HRA Pharma, specializing in women’s health, rare diseases, and oncology. Under his leadership, the company grew to exceed €100 million in revenue by 2017.

A pioneer in pharmaceutical innovation, Dr. Ulmann introduced Norlevo, the first emergency contraceptive pill, to the market in 1999—now available in over 50 countries. His achievements have been recognized with the John Baxter Entrepreneurship Award (2018), granted by the American Endocrine Society.
